Cloud business management solutions specialist Sage has announced the acquisition of GoProposal, a proposal management software provider based in the UK.

The acquisition becomes Sage’s fourth cloud-based fintech investment in the last twelve months, as the company steams ahead with its commitment to delivering innovative cloud solutions to accounting partners.

With GoProposal on board, Sage says the pair will provide UK accountants with the ability to consistently price, manage client experience, as well as deliver engagement letters and professional proposals.

The move expands the provider’s presence in the SMB market and will also help UK accountants prepare their clients for the forthcoming Making Tax Digital for VAT, Income Tax and Self-Assessment reporting, the firm added.

“Accountancy practices play a vital role in helping SMBs to thrive – and by supporting them to digitise their practices, Sage can play a vital role in enabling them to focus on providing their SMB customers with great service and advice and to help them capitalise on the emerging opportunities as the world emerges from the global pandemic,” explained Derk Bleeker, chief strategy and development officer at Sage.

“This acquisition demonstrates Sage’s commitment to supporting accountancy practices through this digitalisation journey, so they can operate efficiently and profitably.”

Founded in 2016, the GoProposal platform is designed to enable accountants and bookkeepers to price consistently, increase revenue, sell more confidently, as well as minimise risk across their business.

The firm provides businesses in the UK, US and Australia with a client onboarding system that focuses on automated pricing, proposal, and engagement letter solutions.

As a result of the acquisition, the GoProposal team will now join Sage’s global accountants team based in Manchester.

“Our mission from the start has been to help accounting businesses develop robust, profitable, and impactful practices. Because if they can do it for themselves, they can do it for their clients, and this starts with controlling the price and scope of the work,” commented James Ashford, GoProposal founder.

“Sage shares our vision of supporting accountants with end-to-end practice management capability. I believe together we can become the driving force behind the accounting industry.”
