Tech Data announces Proofpoint distribution partnership

Tech Data has announced a new distribution partnership with Proofpoint which will take the company’s cloud-based email security solutions and security awareness training devices to market.

The distribution giant said the move further strengthens its growing security solutions portfolio and will help resellers “offer the best protection for customers” as they adapt to the increasing threat of cyber attacks.

Tech Data will actively support partners addressing the SMB sector with enablement, education, and marketing support, as well as sales and technical expertise from its specialist Security Practice, the firm added.

“With hybrid working dominating the agenda, organisations need to tighten control over email and user behaviour,” said Alison Nixon, business unit director – security, Tech Data, UK and Ireland.

“With the expertise and support of our security team, and Proofpoint’s solutions, MSPs can help their customers counter all potential email-borne cyber threats. It’s an exceptional combination and an excellent opportunity.”

Founded in 2002, California-based Proofpoint specialises in providing cyber security and compliance solutions to offer effective protection for email, web, the cloud and social media.

The firm’s Proofpoint Essentials service can be used as an add-on for Microsoft email, offering centralised protection, with automatic updates and pre-filtering. Proofpoint’s Continuous Training Methodology service is also designed to engage and educate users on cybersecurity.

The business was recently bought for $12.3 billion by private equity firm Thoma Bravo.
