Dell has announced the appointment of Adrian McDonald as its new EMEA President, as the technology giant continues its organisational shake-up.

Effective from 3 February, McDonald will take on responsibility for all of the firm’s businesses across the region, including PCs, server, storage and services. The freshly-consolidated leadership role will triple the size of his current organisation, Dell said.

An experienced leader with over 30 years’ IT industry in the industry under his belt, the new EMEA chief has previously lived in and held top roles in key hubs such as Milan, Zurich, Johannesburg, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Vienna, Frankfurt and London.

Having accumulated a deep understanding of the territory, Dell said the IT veteran is “perfectly placed” to lead the regional business amid a shifting industry landscape.

“We are at a tipping point for technology innovation,” McDonald commented.

“Computing will be more intelligent, personal and accessible in the 2020s, and this is going to have an even bigger impact on the world than the last decade, transforming how we live and work.

“Our customers understand this. They are not only looking to reimagine their businesses with the opportunities digital brings, but in many cases, undertake a dramatic transformation and I am looking forward to working with them and our partners to enable them to achieve this.”

The move follows Dell’s December announcement that it plans to make significant organisational changes to simplify and unify its sales structure under a single global leader.

The firm said the reshuffle would create a $91 billion unified sales organisation led by Bill Scannell, with Aongus Hegarty taking on responsibility for all markets outside of North America as President of International Sales.

“In a time of great change, Dell Technologies are ideally positioned to add value into Customer and Partners,” McDonald said. “I’m incredibly excited for the future.”

In addition to his new position, McDonald will continue his role as global lead for Dell’s Mosaic Employee Resource Group, which represents and promotes cultural inclusion and the benefits of cultural intelligence.
