Commvault hires new EMEA lead in bid to drive growth

Commvault has announced the appointment of Marco Fanizzi to vice president of sales for EMEA, as the data management software firm looks to drive growth across the region.

Effective immediately, Fanizzi will oversee the businesses’ objectives in the 70-plus markets spanning Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the enterprise data industry, Fanizzi’s career to date has included multiple senior positions at Dell Technologies, most recently as vice president and managing director for the Italian arm of the business. Prior to that, he held leadership roles with Veritas/Symantec, charged with driving sales through channel and customer engagement.

“I am confident that Marco’s extensive experience – especially in the financial and enterprise sectors across Europe – will rapidly accelerate the expansion our already growing EMEA business,” commented Riccardo Di Blasio, chief revenue officer at Commvault.

“The caliber of our global leadership team is second to none and we have a clear objective to simplify, innovate and execute. Marco has delivered all of these by focusing on the needs of our partners and customers – and I know he will continue to do so.”

Commvault also announced the appointment of Callum Eade as vice president of APJ, who brings extensive sales and business development to help drive growth in the region, the firm said.

The appointments form part of Commvault’s recent bid to strengthen its go-to-market team and reinvigorate its strategic vision for innovation and global growth. Recently, the company appointed former EMC executive David Boyle as vice president of sales for the Americas, as well as former VMWare executive Mercer Rowe to drive its channel sales strategy.

The revamp also follows the firm’s acquisition of software-defined storage specialist Hedvig and the launch of its own saas-based data management and protection offering Metallic.

“Not only is Commvault an independently recognised market leader from a technology perspective, but I see the company leadership establishing an entirely new market for truly seamless integration storage and data management processes,” Fanizzi said. “These are bold and pioneering steps for any vendor in the market and we need to ensure all of our EMEA users know about.

“My first priority is to spend time with our people, customers and partners to listen to what they need and expect from next generation data management solutions so we can continue to deliver on those.”
