McAfee has announced a fresh expansion of its enterprise security suite, as the security software firm looks to better tackle the modern challenges faced by cybersecurity professionals.

McAfee CEO Chris Young lifted the lid on the new features at the firm's annual MPOWER Cybersecurity Summit, saying the innovative updates will help tackle the key issues businesses are currently facing – such as having limited resources, handling large numbers of connected devices, as well as dealing with an influx of data.

The first addition, called McAfee MVISION Insights, is a new data-driven, analytics-based solution designed to help companies take on a more proactive approach to their security. The software pinpoints key threats, offering users insights into the effectiveness of their defences and the ability to respond to them in a timely and efficient manner.

The addition of McAfee Unified Cloud Edge also aims to better tackle security concerns of the cloud by converging the capabilities of the firm's award-winning McAfee MVISION Cloud, McAfee Web Gateway and McAfee Data Loss Prevention solutions.

An industry first initiative, the company said, the offering will enable a "borderless IT environment" and will be available to security professionals via the MVISION ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) platform.

McAfee is also updating its MVISION portfolio, with new features in MVISION Cloud, MVISION Endpoint, MVISION EDR and MVISION ePO that the company said have been designed to help organisations protect data securely and halt threats across devices, networks and the cloud.
