Epson has announced the appointment of Darren Phelps as its new vice president of Business Sales for Europe, as the electronics firm looks to reinforce its channel commitment and further grow its presence in the region.

As part of the role, Phelps will head up Epson Europe's business unit and oversee the expansion of business inkjet and scan products – a move which the firm says continues its focus on driving the shift from laser to business inkjet printing, as well as its commitment to a 100% business sales model.

He takes on the role having just led Epson's recent revamp of its channel Partner Programme, which was successfully redesigned to present additional value to resellers of Epson products – such as business printers, scanners and displays. Under Phelps' leadership, the programme saw a 62% increase in partners working alongside the Epson brand.

Going forward, Epson said simplifying its business print sales model remains a key priority in its continued aim of growing further across the EMEA region.

In recent years, Epson has backed these ambitions with more than half a billion euros of investment into the development and distribution of its business inkjet technology, alongside a strengthening of its EMEA sales support team.

The business said its freshly-revised Partner Programme, in combination with Phelps' appointment to the business sales leadership team, further boosts its progress across Europe.

"Our 100% commitment to the channel and simplified sales model, along with the cost-saving and environmental benefits of our technologies make us a reliable partner for the channel, able to add value and offer support," Phelps commented. "My aim is to further strengthen these relationships, to drive growth for both us and our partners."
