UK IT consultancy ECS snaps up former HPE exec

business leadership

ECS has appointed ex-HPE executive Mark Farrington as managing director of its enterprise cloud division.

Farrington’s responsibilities will include helping firms working in highly regulated industries undertake complex digital transformation programmes, giving them the edge over competitors.

He will play a big part in leading the company's AWS Connect contact centre transformation business, which is set to contribute a significant proportion of its entire revenue targets for the year, which stand at £125 million.

“ECS is recognised by many in the UK retail banking sector as the go-to company for complex transformation programmes,” Farrington said.

“With a large team focused on helping customers move their core business to the cloud, and our work on possibly the most advanced deployment of Amazon Connect in the world, I see myriad growth opportunities to help large organisations transform their IT.”

During his time at HPE, where he served as Pointnext UKI vice president and general manager, Farrington was responsible for helping businesses move to hybrid cloud environments as part of larger digital transformation projects.

“Mark is a great fit for our business with an impeccable background in IT transformation, particularly hybrid cloud deployments,” ECS chief executive Paul Thomson said.

“Mark will hit the ground running as new clients look to take advantage of our holistic approach to complex transformations that recognises that the real challenge isn’t technology, but rather the pragmatic orchestration of new skills, new processes and new technologies.”

ECS has experienced a very successful 12 months, growing its revenues to £100m and increasing employee headcount from 850 to 1,000.
