Cloudian has announced HPE will sell its Cloudian HyperStore software in EMEA as part of its Pointnext services business, growing the companies' partnership activity.

The enterprise object storage systems company explained that this latest move will offer businesses a wider selection of scalable services they can use to build upon their existing HPE servers, storage, and networking investments. Cloudian said its cloud object storage makes it an ideal option for businesses using enterprise software that employs the S3 interface.

“We are thrilled to expand our relationship at HPE in response to the strong demand for Cloudian/HPE solutions,” said Fred Smith, vice president of OEM sales and corporate development at Cloudian.

“With the ability to deploy Cloudian software on the HPE servers they rely on today, HPE customers have new options to meet today’s unprecedented data storage challenges.”

This is HPE's second object storage partner, with it already offering Scality's services alongside its hardware and managed services products. It means customers can choose between the two to boost their data protection, active archive for media and entertainment, healthcare imaging, digital surveillance, storage-as-a-service, and artificial intelligence/machine learning applications.

“Our customers in EMEA are eager to find effective and economical solutions to consolidate, protect and manage their business data,” said Lorenzo De Amici, Worldwide Service Portfolio Manager at HPE. “Our relationship with Cloudian gives HPE customers new options for scalable enterprise storage solutions that capitalise on their existing investments in networking and server technologies.”

But it seems Scality has a different view of the mater and actually, told The Register that HPE does not have a repeatable resell of Cloudian and its role as the exclusive object storage vendor with HPE remains, as it has since 2014.
